Disturbingly cute animal photos.

Bobby the Brushtailed Possum

Clancey the Red Kangaroo.

Clancey is still in care and will be there for another 12 months. He's one of the animals up for sponsorship.

an Eastern Grey joey and a swamp wallaby joey share a basket.

A wallaroo, red kangaroo, eastern greay kangaroo and another wallaroo.

These fellows are still in care, but are nearly fully grown now.

Some of the mob in care

One of the swamp wallabies currently in care

Repairing the wing of a Wedge Tailed Eagle

Me, Gillian and Helen.

And finally, Mr. Claws. Claws was successfully released into the wild last year.

hiya, these photos are just toooo cute. I've stumbled across you, as you do in LJ via someone who needed some animal advice, and I gotta say, you deserve a medal. These lucky animals.

also, maybe you can confirm something I was told yesterday at Steve Irwan's animal park - that wombats have square poo??!!?? I made a point of finding some while there, and I can kind of see the squareness, as in it doesn't taper, but all I can think about, is the poor wombat bottom!!! Maybe Mr Claws can tell us the whole story. :) :) :)
ps: hope you don't mind if I add you to my friends list?

They are little fibrous cubes with rounded corners. It's a dry environment thing. I should mention that I didn't raise any of these. I only do bats and echidnas.

If this job doesn't pan out I'll be sending my resume to Australia Zoo. "IT everything with own car and rabies shots"

There's cute and then there's irresistable. That one pic of Clancey compels me to put my own nose up to the screen and make foozy noises. I know it's just a photograph but when I scroll it onto the screen my brain chemicals make me lean forward and go hello nosey face who's a cute fluffy roo yes you are

Zebra in the Kitchen

Sometime in the 1960s, Jay North, better known as "Dennis the Menace" on TV, made a stink-bomb of a movie that not even Martin Milner and Andy Devine could salvage. It was about a pre-adolescent boy forced to move from the country to the city, and give his "pet" cougar to the zoo.

But Batty, his character had *nothing* on you! Seeing all those roos in the kitchen was reminiscent of either a Crocodile Dundee or Yahoo Serious movie (sorry to possibly rub salt in a stereotypical wound by mentioning them). My Dog, but you must have fun!

I should stress that these aren't my animals. They live with a fellow rescuer who has raised them, except for the eagle of course. THat came in injured, fully gorwn and pissed off.

Claws is a 1/2 grown wombat. They're vegetarians who live in burrows, hence the claws.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww
Geeez.... now I'm REALLY missing my animal rescue days. Even if they were only 'ordinary' animals like raccoons and groundhogs and crows and the occassional deer.

Pssst... did you know that mother nature makes baby animals CUTER on purpose? Apparently cuter babies get fed more, taken better care of, and thrive more readily?

Date: 6 Oct 2003 17:29 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com
There *are* the ordinary animals for me. Raccoons are exotic.
