Date: 30 Jul 2003 22:33 (UTC)I heard the English changed because it was proper to mount a horse or carriage from the left, so the passengers "mounted" the car (ie, a horseless carriage) from the left off the footpath.
and I don't know why I think about things like this. I just do.
