EARTH is your chinese symbol!

What Chinese Symbol Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

Mum made some "chinese chews" today. I don't know why they're called "chinese chews" but I remember going to Grandma's place and scarfing them down when I was Very Young in the mid 60s. The ingredient list reads like the list of things post-war Australia had an abundance of, when we had large amounts of a very limit range of produce.

I had a flashback to sitting in the sunroom of the house in Bexley, listening to the adults talk about boring things, and waiting for the next plane to fly overhead as it came in to land at Kingsford Smith Airport. I just remember the Connies, and I remember the first 747.

1.5 cups self raising flour
1 cup sugar
0.5 teaspoons salt
1 cup mixed fruit (or sultanas and nuts)
1 egg
1 tblespoon milk
1 tblspoon vanilla (or lemon juice)
0.25 lb butter (or marg.)

Melt the butter(or marg) and mix everything together well. pour it into a greased pan and cook in a moderate oven for 30 mins. Let it cool and cut into chunks. Wash down with a cup of really hot tea.

I'm envious! I've never flown on one.

Although, the stories Qantas engineers tell me make me glad I didn't fly from London in one. 8)

I'll have to mix up some chinese chews:). They picked a bad day for the fireworks. It's almost noon and it has been raining since 5 this morning:P.

There are two Connies, on civilian passenger rig and on in US Air Force colors, parked with a few hundred meters from where I sit. They're based here at the airport, and you can get rides on one during air shows. Interesting aircraft!
