Bacon Numbers on Livejournal

I propose a new unit to measure degrees of seperation on Live Journal. It should be called [livejournal.com profile] mactavish numbers.

I have a [livejournal.com profile] mactavish number of "1"

Mine's 2!

But the degrees of separation should narrow as each LJ user adds new and interesting friends as they look through their friend's friends list to work out the levels of separation on their friends list.

Ummm... Not sure that worked.

No wait a minute... That is actually not a bad idea.

*grin*

I'll trade ya. I am going to add your [livejournal.com profile] mactavish. See if you can find anyone interesting at the bottom of my friends list... :)

hehehehe I have a 2, I suppose, and I even bought a bra from an online shop on her recommendation in a friend's journal. Is that 1.5?

From LJ's 'birthday post': Now we have 932,081 accounts, 425,901 of which are active.

Poor MacTavish... how will she ever keep up?

Hee!
She's doing her best.

You're so cute.

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2003-03-18 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Your mactavish number is 0, of course. 8)

I have introducted two to Mary, that I know of, could be more.

Degrees of seperation.

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2003-03-18 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Your mactavish number is still 1 because you're on mary's friends list. Your friends who are not on her list have a mactavish number of 2. And so on.

And I keep finding people who say things like, "I love bats," but when I check, they don't seem to know [livejournal.com profile] dewhitton -- yet. :)

It's not in The Rules to know me if you like bats. 8)

How can anyone keep up with a friends page with 735 people on it? I find Live Journal is severely cutting into my reading & TV time as it is.

Iseult.

[identity profile] mactavish.livejournal.com 2003-03-18 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't watch TV. (I've never much been into TV.)

I have lots of friends who only rarely post.

A lot of those "friends" are communities, many of which are very low traffic.

For my busy days, I use a "daily read" filter.

That explains it. Especially the lack of TV watching.
