Did you like The Wierdstone Of Brisengamen, by Alan Garner?

You might recognize the places on this map.

Batty, I loved it! It really gave me the willies as a kid...

And even cooler, is that I spent most of last year working near Alderley Edge. In fact the route that Gowther Mossock and the kids take circled Radnor Mere (the lake just south of Alderley Edge) and in fact went through my old office! The Wizard pub is still there and is a very nice restaurant indeed. I couldn't find a farm called Highmost Redmanhay, but there arer quite a few that could have inspired it. Of course, I did look and I walked up the Edge itself :>

See this map for more details of my office location (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=385000&y=376840&z=3&sv=385000,376840&st=4&tl=Grid+Location+385000,376840&ar=Y&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf)

I had to stop there on my first trip to the UK in the early 80s. I never did find the large standing stones, but I did follow (from the road)the path they took when they ran from the Brood. I still have a copy of the book here, somewhere. I read it, and the sequal, with the Ordinance Survey Map next to me.

Oh, and I had a look at Watership Down, too. 8)
