Once found over a broad area, the Hairy-nosed Wombat is now found in only one place - 300ha of Epping Forest National Park in central Queensland. There has been no appreciable increase in the population size since 1985. "

Did you know there are 4 times as many pandas as their are hairy-nosed wombats? Everyone cares about the Panda.

65, huh? Is that even enough genetic diversity to assure species survival?

Scientists trying to work that out. DNA samples are being taken by stretching stickytape across known pathways, and examining the hairs they collect. I don't know the results but I suspect it will be bad.
