Winter has finally arrived, laying a heavy frost on everything. I see on my external thermometre that last night hit -1C
I don't subscribe to the Australian way of dertermining the start of winter as the 1st June because our cold days don't start until after the solstice. Apparently in the Colonial Days the NSW Corps (aka The Rum Corps) changed from their summer uniform to the winter uniform on the 1st March. It was "officially" Autumn. Since then we have out seasons start on the first of a month.
That's silly.
The office is cold. I've shut most of the doors in an effort to warm my bit. Luckily I'm the only one here today so I won't get complaints from the others.
My Seasons
Date: 2 Jul 2001 18:41 (UTC)Winter: From when the snow stays on the ground to when it starts melting. = Mid-December - March
Spring: From then until it starts getting nasty hot April - Mid-June
Summer: When it's nasty hot until it starts getting cool and leaves turn colour = Mid-June - Mid-September
Fall: Colourful leaves, cool = Mid-September - Mid-December
These are pretty close to where the solstices and equinoxen are. I live in Southern Ontario, where we get quite drastic seasonal changes :)
