Ah yes, I knew that spammers would eventually figure out they can use the Windows Messaging Service to send popups. I've used it to pester my coworkers in the past when I know they're sitting at their desks ignoring my email messages.

This only works on Windows computers, and only on Windows computers that allow contact with the WMS. Those of us behind tight firewalls, and anyone who disables the Windows Messaging Service, will not be vulnerable.

MIcrosoft should've included an option in the service to block messages from external networks. :P

I think it can be disabled in W98 by Control Panel>add/Remove Programs>Windows Setup>Systems Tools>Details> and uncheck the WinPopup box. I can't test it so I don't know how effective it is.
