Do the American backbone ISPs have to supply the RIAA with services? What if they stopped supplying the RIAA with internet services? It would be the ultimate DoS.
The thought has occurred to many of us. However, most of the backbone providers have what is called "common carrier" status. This comes with the perk that they cannot be held responsible for the things the RIAA would like to hold them responsible for. It also comes with the requirement that they cannot pick and choose who they provide service to.
