The phone rang. I was deep into the OOM textbook and the interruption was unwelcome. I stood, turned, and trod on Scruffy. He yelped loudly, as you would expect, and I stumbled, tripped over a rolled mat, trod on Scruffy again who yelped again, and I went down like a bag of shit.

On the way down I bashed my left shoulder against a coner of the wall, bounced my ribs off the sofa arm rest, and fell to the floor with my right arm out. That was a mistake. It all was, really, but the straight arm was worse. I hit the floor with all my weight on my palm and the only reason I didn't break my wrist was because the new carpet has new underlay and was relatively soft, especially when compared to the corner of the wall.

So my ribs ache, my left shoulder aches, and my right arm aches from wrist to shoulder. All in all it was not a Good Thing To Do.

Update: You never realise how many things you bump into until your whole body aches.

Ouch! Home acrobatics are a Bad Idea...! *hugs* Hope the aches wear off soon and that Scruffy has forgiven you (or stopped snickering at that whole "falling down in an elaborate fashion" routine at least :> )

Every time I move my feet he jumps out of the way and gives me a look of wounded outrage. Poor little doggy

I empathise. I fell in a similar manner some years ago and were it not for a minute two inch gap in the concrete under my left palm it would have been much worse. Cold for the swelling, Tiger Balm for the stiffness. Too bad there isn't a salve for Scruffy. I'm sure he knows you didn't mean it- he's just *wary*. Sling for your wing?

Ouch! One thing to watch out for is pain in the elbow. I did something simular last Christmas. I fell and landed on my outstreatched palm. I thought I got away without breaking anything because my wrist didn't hurt, but a couple of days later I found out I had cracked the bones in my elbow. Apparently the transmitted shock can sometimes bang the bones together hard enough to crack them.

Crikey! Such a blow. I've taken a few swan dives along pavements (and banged up my knees something feirce) and popped my ankles after having them sprained (didn't sprain them deliberately, mind you, just happened that way), so I sympathize!

Have some Virtual Vicodin.

Now, get some rest!

What zie said. (Vicodin is Nurofen, O batty one.)

Once tripped and fell full length on the footpath. Ended up aching in places I didn't know I had.

But I have to ask... so, did you get to the phone beofre it stopped ringing? ;)

Hope you and Scruffy both feel better soon.

Y'know... that's a good question -- *DID* you make it?!

Nurofen, eh? Now I know!

Actually I got that wrong.

Advil == Nurofen

Vicodin is codeine, and probably prescription-only at any decent strength (although some codeine is available otc in NZ).

I took 2 Panadeine (Panadol & Codeine combo) and retired for the night. Worked well.

Home acrobatics! Not good, mate!

At least poor Scruffy will be more wary of your feet now. Our cat *used* to rub around our legs as we were walking in the door with a heavy load of groceries. That stopped right about the time a bag full of bread, eggs and grapes spilled on his head.

A bread-bonked, egg-covered and grape-encrusted cat is not a happy creature.

Oh dear oh dear, insult to injury on both parts..well most parts by the sound of it;*
If only you had added a piece of Leggo to step back on , then somehow managed to crack your little toe into the bottom corner of the couch too, scruffy might have been more sympathetic and less aggrieved!
Now you need to be rescued by a thirty foot tall bat who will put you in a comfy tent for a bit then release you into your native habitat.
Bats' diary..
AM: Little fella picked up a bit when I reverbed some radio signals with my massive ears into his tent..hope yet.
PM:He seemed interested enough when I pushed some corned beef into his feed tray..things looking very hopeful indeed....Has begun tapping his little fingers on the bubble padding in his tent in a most curious way, calling out something that sounds a bit like modem, mardon , whatever, those dull grunts are pretty hard to bear at the best of times.
