At some point in R2D2's future (between movies 3 & 4) he has a serious downgrade of his graphics projection unit to replace his current nifty unit with a vector graphics unit. And they rip out his jets.

R2D2 should be pissed off.

hm? no, the holographic projection was the same in SW 4 & 6 wasn't it?

I kinda figured that was why they kept the holographic communication things so fuzzy...plus the fact that they're traveling 50 billion light years (or something)...Since 1 and 2 obviously come before the other movies chronologically, the technology shouldn't look better. I'm sure there's a million examples as to why I'm wrong, but for that anyway, it made sense to me for it to be that way.

And besides, doesn't R2 and his frooty friend end up getting junked or captured or something? I'm sure any nifty reuseable parts would have been taken from them if that were the case.
