That pretty much can be said for the whole fracking deal over here... piss-few jobs, damn all tax revenue, and the people involved looking as shady as hell... and yet the government is all gung-ho for it.

Of course, this being Britain, the bung is in the form of 'campaign contributions' and promises of golden hand-shake deals when they walk out of Westminster and into the private sector.

There doesn't *appear* to be any campaign contributions here, which makes me wonder if Undercurrent's last word on under the table is right. Queensland State Labor and Canberra Federal conservatives can't agree on anything - except this.

There is a threatened bird in Queensland called the black throated finch. That coal mine will occupy about 50% of the bird's range. But it's for the good of the country, right?
