1 September 2012 12:57A walk through the Castle Museum, Colchester, and then a drive to a very old church.
A walk through the shopping centre.
Castle Museum. The castle was built in 1070(ish) on the foundations of a Roman temple to Mithras.



You can't dig a hole in Colchester without finding something. Many of the best items are in the museum.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, the castle was a prison. Some of the cells have been restored.

Greensted Church, originally built between 850 and 1050AD, and extended in the mid 1500s. The bell tower was built in 1720.
