After Duxford we called in at Houghton Mill.

The lock on the River Ouse that drops boats to the river below the mill

River Ouse downstream of the lock. The launch got it wrong entering the lower gate, and the captain needed to do some emergency reversing to stop expensive noises from happening. It was very close.

The river blow the mill, taken from a balcony over the water wheel

The upper grain room. Bags are lifted to here by winch, then the grain is poured down chutes to the mill stones.

Mill stones on the grinding floor. In the late 1890s this mill had seven grinding stones.
