UK Trip Day 3

Woke at 5.30am and couldn't get back to sleep. Jet-lag is starting to wear off but is still affecting me. At 6.30 I wandered outside; the day was clear and cold, but still. I took photos of the sunrise.
After a breakfast of bacon & eggs, Aaron and I headed off to Ely Cathedral. We* took a few wrong turns, but that doesn't matter. There are many roads and the GPS always got us heading in the right direction.
We reached Ely at 10am, found a long-term car park and walked to the Cathedral - which is pretty hard to miss. It towers over the town.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ely_cathedral"<Ely Cathedral</a> is huge. We spent a good 2 hours in there, and that was a quick visit. They have tours and a stained glass museum, neither of which we saw.
Then we headed over to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Framlingham_Castle">Framlingham Castle."</a> I found a car park and we hit the Castle Inn of lunch. I had a cod-and-chips washed down with a Adnams Southwold Bitter and an Adnams Ghost Ship Pale Ale.

This was Aaron's first castle (not counting The Tower, which he saw on our last trip). It's a massive wall structure with only one Tudor building left inside. We spnt hours wandering around, and then headed back to Offord Darcy.
Somewhere around the Cambridge By-pass it started to sleet. The temperature dropped from 13C to 6C in a few minutes. The bike riders did not look happy.
*By "we" I mean "me." Sometimes the strings of roundabouts confuse me, and the sun is in the wrong part of the sky so I can't rely on internal navigation. I am turned around 180degrees.
