Te Matua Ngahere is the second largest kauri tree. It is huge tree with a girth of 16m. The hike is easy and takes you through the Waipoua forest, and there is nothing trying to kill you.
On the walk to the huge tree you pass many large kauri.

The first branches are 25m from the ground.
