Lawn Dick update

I've just checked my patch of stinkhorns. The 4 from last night have had it, but there are nine new ones startting to show.

Slugs seem to love them. The slimy buggers have swamped the area and are chewing on my fungi. I might have to lay down some baits but I'm not happy about doing that since my garden is home to a blue-tongue lizard and I don't want to poison her.

shoo slugs! Leave my stinkhorns alone!

What? Waste beer on slugs?!

or vb. or some other beer that you tolerate less than usual.

you might even be able to get your hands on yank-beer, but then the slugs would probably avoid that too. or try to swim in it.

Doesn't take -much- beer. The little bit at the bottom of the bottle can be diluted with a bit of water and it'll still work. It's the scent that attracts them, mostly, and there just needs to be enough liquid that they're unable to climb out. Have you also considered surrounding your fungi with rings of salt? That also works pretty well as a deterrent. :)
