Orb Weaver

A tiny orb weaver living in the gardinias. Her body is about the size of a pea.

Oooh, pretty colors!

Oh, it's so vivid! I ran into my first orb spider a few years ago and was just fascinated by it. It's coloring wasn't nearly as impressive as this one, though.

I don't have a picture, but my folks have/had one with a triangularish shape
that is/was some kind of argiope (garden spider) living in a space above the outer porch doorway last summer. They've also had the odd golden argiopes but this one was a wild card. And me without a camera.*sigh* :P

Is it as deadly as everything else in Australia?

Maybe it's completely nontoxic, but its web is made of pure plutonium.

Not plutonium, more like sticky steel. Walking face-first into a web at night will make the largest man scream like a little girl. It's horrible.

Pretty color. I don't mind spiders at a distance, but they creep me out when they're on me... brr!
