Olympics coverage

Channel7 have the exclusive rights to broadcast the winter thing in Utah. So while the opening ceremony was going on yesterday, they had the opportunity to broadcast it.

But they didn't. Instead, they showed the original 1966 Batman movie followed by a Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis pile of shite.

We were shown an expurgated version of the opening at 8.30.

Of which I missed half, because The Bill was on ABC and that takes precidence.

I don't understand it. What would you rather show? Olympics Opening Ceremony Live, or Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis pile of shite?

There was more money in showing it in prime time than there was showing it in the middle of the day. TV stations exist to funnel eyeballs to advertisers.

Don't feel alone, though. Think how annoying it'd be if you couldn't get the Sydney olympics live? The host nation can't work out what "Live" means (http://mailpages.scripting.com/2002/02/09), and the West Coast of the USA is going to see most of the olympics on tape delay. much suckage.

I don't know how it will be in Sydney, but Prime is going to show some events up to 11pm, when Roy & HG are on. Then, while the sports are on in Utah we're getting The Davis Cup live from Argentina.

Oooooh

Didn't know you liked the Bill :o)

Erm... Where about are you over there? Out of interest so I can work out how far ahead we are to you :o)
