I can think of a few other criminal acts they can monitor.

The Liberal Party? ;)

How about those cheap Viagra mongers? Or the people who produce Enzyte commercials?

Damn those Nigerian scoundrels! I'm holding out for a mansion, a yacht, and 100 billion dollars in small unmarked tax free bills. ;D
The only problem is that they will never pass the main requirement, which is how to learn to spell and/or use proper grammar. And even then they are going to *fail*.

That came to me too. I figured it was a virus - I emailed Snopes about it.

Thanks for letting me know. Macs don't have virus scanners, AFAIK.

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
That's because Macs are too hard for the script kiddies; there are no tools for them so they have to code by hand instead of drag'n'drop.

There are viruses for Macs, but they're pretty rare. Put it this way, I've been running this one Mac for eight years now, and not had a single virus so far.

You mean, the ones that are illegal in 47 states? O, yas...

Great stuff. Can't catch these people, but Karma will surely come around and bite them in the ass. Hard. Image

But it isn't illegal in Nigeria....

They committed a few crimes of their own. Crimes against the english language!

Do what I do and make a Bad Spam Theatre out of it next time.

[identity profile] dennier.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
This showed up where I work, on hundreds of our computers. The IT department had a field day putting out the fires of panic. We were told to delete it, but don't open the attachment. It's nothing but Spam.

[identity profile] ccdesan.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
What astonishes me is that people get something like this, written such abysmal English, and think it's something they have to worry about.

Just be glad you weren't hit by the infamous 'Good Times' virus...

[identity profile] walkertxkitty.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a joke...right? Just what would YOU be doing that's illegal?

The last time I saw a notice like that, it was being served to me...for downloading copies of my own artwork after a leak in storage destroyed the originals.

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a hijack attempt. The log file attached was a trojan.

Plus, wiretapping by non-government groups in Australia is illegal.

[identity profile] walkertxkitty.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Can I move there until our government gets its head out of its ass?

If they're monitoring me, I'm probably going straight to Gitmo with no notice. The last batch of books I bought for writing purposes involved forensice, police procedurals, how to commit crimes and how they're solved...and a book on poisons :D

[identity profile] lizardling.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Not to mention that I don't think actual oversight bodies use wiretapping as the term of choice for peeking at what you're doing *online*. *g*

[identity profile] amazingadrian.livejournal.com 2008-09-16 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
That's pretty messed up. I've never seen something like this before.

I suppose they'll always come up with new methods of spreading viruses around. Kind of obvious too, since a list of activities should fit on a document, and in no way needs a zip file.
