Water Cannon

Not one of mine.

If it was one of mine it would have less than 5 minutes of squirty time.

Did you know you lived in Dumbo (http://www.smh.com.au/news/news/net-users-seek-holidays-at-brian-bay/2007/08/20/1187462151637.html)?

Hmm, I'd say that was a good investment, though I do agree about the possibility of innocent people getting hurt if used improperly...

It does sound rather silly if you only hear a little bit about it...
"Hey, did you hear that the New South Wales government has a new armoured vehicle that has a water cannon on it?"
"Hmm, no I hadn't, bet you could use it for long distance water fights, eh?"

They're issuing it to some of the biggest bogans in the country: NSW Police. Hot days at City Central will be fun.

Great, now you've got me thinking about riot cannons, and how to make them even sillier.

I personally like the concept of shooting the equiviliant of a 3 litre "ball" at ridiculously high speeds. Would be less wasteful than a continous stream, and the 12k litre tank would last more than 5 minutes...

I'd fill it with something that glows in the dark and hire it out to raves.

I think there's a market for that here. Can we build it?

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
I can build it! Getting the glowy stuff that won't burn off faces is hard.

Nah, you can get non-toxic fluorescent water dyes. www.blacklite.com makes em. They use em in Disney displays and Haunted House attractions.

Cool! When do we start?

[identity profile] marmoe.livejournal.com 2007-08-22 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
I fear you are a bit late with this quest. There are leaping fountains already, I only just found out that they add fluorescein, too.

On the original article, is that riot control truck a first in Australia? They are very common in Europe.

This is the first in the country, and the only reason NSW Police bought it was for the APEC conference.

The only problem is that with the current water restrictions, they can only use it every second Thursday.
