He is well on the way to recovery now, and is rehabbing in a large flight aviary. His carer thinks he'll be released in a few weeks.

Goodness...I feel soundly glared at and vaguely guilty, even though I haven't done anything wrong lately O.o Hurrah to soon-releasing! Good luck with him; he's very nifty.

I don't see him often now that he's in a flight aviary, but he remembers me and gapes. While I had him I fed him freshly killed wild mousies. He remembers that.

Sounds like the Tawny Frogmouth is a grumpy species in general!
I'd be cranky too and out of energy if I had had no dinner for a week.
