Date: 12 Feb 2007 15:25 (UTC)The "Terran Trade Authority" books were originally published in the '70s, as an excuse to print volumes of Cool '70s Spaceship Art by Foss, McKie, and others with a loosely-constructed backstory in a format modeled after Jane's Fighting Ships and similar references. Of course, I had at least one of the books in my own library.
Recently, a bunch of fans decided that this background would be a cool RPG setting, and got the rights to the concept. I saw the first volume in the bookstore a few days ago -- apparently, the royalties for the original paintings were prohibitive, so they've reproduced them as 3D computer-graphics renderings.
