Black Christmas

The fires in Victoria have burned 1,803,862 acres, and are still not under control. 32 houses have been lost, one firefighter is dead and eleven firefighters from New Zealand are in hospital with burns.

The firefighter was run over by a vehicle who's driver didn't see him in the smoke.

Yikes. I was curious and had a look for maps of the fires. Found this:

The Pilliga state forest does not look too good. I think that's near (200 km) you, isn't it?

I wish you lots of rain. A good week full of drizzle (flash floods danger?), or more if need be.

The Pilliga fire was a real worry because it threatened the state's largest koala colony, but they saved that and now it's mostly under control.

The worst fires now are in Victoria and Tasmania. They are still not contained and are threatening towns.
