Tora Tora Tora

"Tora Tora Tora" is on telly. This is the movie "Pearl Harbor" could have been if they hadn't made shit up and turned it into a love story.

I hope they don't play that crap movie on the 7th.

Pearl Harbor made me pray for surprise airstrikes on Hollywood. Ugh.

When I heard they were making Pearl Harbor I thought "Brilliant!" Instead we got a love-triangle of Titanic proportions. No pilot was in the American Eagles AND Pearl Harbor AND the Dolittle raid.

But worse, worse than the sloppy love story, is the way they wrote the two genuine-hero fighter pilots out and stuck in those two girls blouses.

I fully expected it to be turned into a semi-romance film; everything big-budget essentially has to have that element to have a chance at being produced these days.

History films tend to horrify me more the closer they're produced to the present. There's only a few contemporary ones that I've really liked (and they wouldn't exactly have mass appeal). Older stuff, like The Longest Day, still impresses me, especially because of That One Insane Shot in that particular one.

The Free French Attack The Casino shot. Outstanding!

Indeed. I wonder how often, if ever, we're going to see shots like that taken again in movies. Damn this ADD cinematography!

wasnt that a MARVELLOUS movie... I tell you what each time I see that I start barracking for the Japanese, because they pulled off a stunning suprise attack, and the yanks made so many cockups it wasnt funny.
