In the year I turned 18 (http://www.popculturemadness.com/Music/Pop-Modern/1988.html), there are only 8 songs I really liked from that time that are listed. I went for more Indie stuff, then; but there were songs that snuck onto the pop charts I enjoyed, as well.

Argh! I -must- remember to do this meme when I've got more time, which means being less on-the-road.

I wonder where the list is from, as the top ones were different on every continent.

I live the now and I do not remember what I used to hear when I was 18, I know it was techno and some dance.

It's not the UK chart as they have David Bowie's Space Oddity charting in 1973 when anyone over here knows it was 1969. The record company were praying nothing happened to the Apollo astronauts, and the BBC were holding their breaths as they also used it and it would have been a little TOO appropriate.

It could be the US chart as the LP S.O. is on was renamed from "David Bowie" to "Space Oddity" and released over there in 1972.

There are no Aussie bands there who were massive hits that year. Definitely Amerocentric. Again.
