You need specialist training and a top-notch rehab facility, plus the way the law is written only zoos and wildlife parks are permitted to keep them. I could probably keep one for a few days but I'd have to hand it over. They're endangered, whereas the ol' echidna isn't. There's millions of them.

Years ago, one of my co-workers brought a puggle she'd just gotten as a pet to work, and I got to hold it for a few moments. Cute little critter, and about as "innocent" as any animal can ever be. I can see how one can get attached to them (especially if one gets impailed upon its spines... *heh!)
