I'm a member of [livejournal.com profile] topgeartotty and we're all a little stunned by this.. which of course is not helped by the hospital-speak.. Though according to the scale, significant brain injury is ANYTHING that leaves you unconcious for more than 5 minutes.

So we're hopeful...
but crossingh our fingers..

"brain injury" could be medical speak for a bad concussion.

It sounds like he's improving, which is really good news.

Man... hate to hear that. I love the show, and I agree, the show wouldn't be the same! I haven't caught an episode since the accident, how's the gang holding up?

They're currently off the air, being busy recording stuff for the next series. There is a report that as soon as he regained consciousness Hammond said that he had to get up and do a "To Camera" piece.

Both the other presenters have been visiting, JC apparently got a smile out of the Hamster when his first comment on entering the ward was "Man you're a ^(*% driver!"

Now the BBC are under pressure to cancel Top Gear. That would just be the icing on the cake wouldn't it :(

Latest is that he's out of IC, moved to "High Dependence" which is hospital speak for "We don't need to have fifty tubes and wires plugged into him so we can move him to somewhere with high staffing ratios but free up the really expensive equipment for other patients". He's also apparently fully conscious and able to speak.
