Panoramas

I picked up my Europe photos today. A lot of them need processing before I can display them. But first, some panoramas.

Bedford Valley at sunset, showing the airship sheds at Cardington.

The American Hangar, Duxford Air Museum.

The Thames from the top of Tower Bridge, looking toward Greenwich.

The Thames from Tower Bridge, looking upstream.

London from Greenwich Observatory, looking toward the Millenium Dome.

The Tower

Maddingly War Cemetary, near Cambridge, where nearly all the US servicement killed in the UK during WW2 are buried.

Those are great, especially the Florence one. You clearly spent much time climbing up things to get such good vistas. Or carried a set of folding steps everywhere you went....? :) I enjoyed your holiday report posts greatly, kept forgetting to reply to them though.

Piazza del Michelangelo and the Greenwich Observatory are on the side of hills, but for everything else I climbed or took a lift. Tower Bridge has lifts.

I only got to see England and some of Europe as an infink! (infant)

Is there a building code regulation that all roofs in Florence must be redish brown (green copper domes started out brown)?

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
No, that's just how it is. They use a lot of terracotta tiles and brick.

Those are stunning! What did you shoot them with? They all would make beautiful calendar photos, among other things. I particularly liked the Tower. You captured it just right!

I used my standard Canon EOS 50E, with 400ASA film. The negs were scanned straight to CD at the shop.

I'm really happy with almost all my photos.

Awesome Captures

Is that an ice rink beside the tower? The first Thames shot is astounding - it would make a great full wall cover. The cemetery one is my favorite; the differnet trees, the colors/contrast.

You sure have a good eye for taking them - have fun with the 'processing'.

Have you been to Canada? Brings LOTS of film when you do!

Yeah, they put an ice rink in the moat. 8( It's really out of place with the look of the Tower.

At the Cemetary is a wall (behind me in the photo) with the names of all the servicemen buried there.

Cool!

Your Thames panoramas reminded me of this book my dad has, I forget the name, but basically, a long time ago before the docks closed, some insane guy did a panoramic picture of the entire stretch of Thamesside, I forget where from and to, but a long way. There's an entire book with this picture in (well, two pictures; he did both sides). It goes across pages and pages (and pages, and pages); the book has annotations pointing to describe things along the way. Now that's a panorama.

But still, yours are pretty nice :)
