The Lord Of The Rings

I didn't know Middle Earth had so many Macrocarpa trees!

It was funny watching the movie and recognising places I'd been, especially when they were rowing down the great river. The bit where the river turns against a vertical cliff is actually on the Grey River, with the road digitally removed.

Oh the cliff is really there. The road runs along a notch carved into the face of it.

On the way out of the cinema, a lady behind me said loudly "That was a CRAP ending!" a few seconds later she said "There's a book?"

heh

I expirienced the same thing when I saw it. I told this couple in front of me that there were two more movies and they just looked dumbfounded!

When I was a sophomore in high school, in my advanced English class, I remember giving a paper/lecture about studies of intelligence in cetaceans, primarily dolphins. I also distinctly remember one of the students - sophomores in high school, around 14 years old, in the advanced curriculum - expressing surprise and wonder that dolphins are mammals, not fish.

Since then, I have tried my damndest to not expect too much from average people... but I keep having to lower my standards! Arrrrrgh!!
