I have just had to euthanase a raven because some bugger decided it would look better with a bullet hole in its side.

If you find out who did it, I'll fly down to your place and hold them while you hit them, or would you prefer we do it the other way round? You hold I hit?

I don't understand why folks take pot shots at birds. I was taught that if you MUST kill the bird make damned sure that you do so. Scaring it off with shot or a bullet isn't enough.

>:(!! What a waste. I wonder how some people would feel if ravens pecked holes in their side for no reason sometimes....

I remember when my father and grandfathers and I were hunting, some crazy nut was trying to shoot down a pair of hawks. My father was so angry that he approached the guy to ask him to stop. When the guy refused, good bad or indifferent, my father took the gun from his hands and beat it over a rock until it was completely useless. I didn't quite understand all the drama at the time, but now I do. It's called respect for the animals and respect for what the firearm was intended for in the first place. And deliberately taunting an animal and inflicting pain for the sake of "fun" just rubs most of us the wrong way. Thank goodness. Over the years, my parents just couldn't even bring themselves to hunt anymore, and replaced the rifles and shotguns with a beautiful 35mm camera. That was a shock. I guess the cruelty finally sunk in. Too much blood, too much suffering, too many mistakes. It finally had caught up with them. I am proud of them for that.
