as James pointed out, looks like there is a dns problem. Nome used to run his own hosting company but a korean company threw monay at him until he worked for them. Now his hosting service is very much his part-time hobby. I put up with the occasional problem because he doesn't charge me a cent.

Ah, there's nought I can do to help them.

Worst case if your friend's machine is going to be down for a while is to point the domain at James' OD server since he has a mirror already setup. OD can be your primary DNS and HRF can be your secondary for DNS. A zone record is all that's needed on both boxes and a little Apache-fu on OD and it's a done deal.

I'm just doing the vhost and zone files in preparation.

I don't yet have my DNS server running properly. Somewhere or other I've managed to block access to port 53.

Should the need arise, feel free to hack a zone on HRF as necessary, I'm off to bed here. Hope things come back on line again soon for ya Batty.

Hopefully I'll get my DNS server running soon, but in the mean time I've created a battyden.net zone on HRF. If Batty's host and/or DNS hasn't returned by tomorrow, I'll create a secondary DNS on granitecanyon.com and he can switch over to my server.

Just out of curiosity, your domain name wasn't due to expire on July 1 ... was it?

nic.com indicates that the record expiry was was July 1, 2005.

hmm. why the two different dates?

whois told me 2005 as well.

Could just be a delay in the name servers getting updated.

It's all just a big bugger.

exp. date is good for me now btw.
