More rescues

Eastern Grey Kangaroo joey I picked up this afternoon. He was thrown from the pouch when his mum was chased by dogs. In cases like this the fmale has effectively abandoned the joey. Normally they will die but this one wont. He's off to a carer.

I didn't know they could abandone their joeys if they needed too. Kinda sad but...survival of the fittest I guess. I'm glad this one has a carer to go to. The eyes in the second picture are particularly striking, like pieces of tiger eye or topaz.

He is a cute little guy. Is he in a home made pouch for comfort there?

It was an old flannel sweat-shirt with the arms and neck sew shut. Joeys don't feel secure until they're in a pouch, and flannel feels pouchy enough to make him happy.
