Photo Day. And now, a picture of a duck.

One for [livejournal.com profile] lonita

I thoughs she was a pacific black duck but the lady I handed her to says she is a wood duck. This little ball of fluff took some catching and attacked me every time I lifted her from the cage. "How cute! She's mauling me to death!" I can now say I have been savaged by a duck.

You rehab non-native species? Or is there an Aussie duck species that's also called "Wood Duck?"

I should learn to look before I post...
I guess you mean this http://home.vicnet.net.au/~fbpw/woodduck.htm

not this http://www.birding.com/414wd.asp

Don't feel bad, I was confused by this too. The only wood duck I know (until I looked at your links) was the ones with the green heads (on the males anyway)

It was the Aussie wood duck, not one of them forn ones.

Did you check it's passport?

[identity profile] odiedragon.livejournal.com 2005-02-02 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
I surmised as much. :D

*QUACK*

Wow... you guys have *cool* wood ducks!

Not that the local ones aren't cute, especially when they're eating the nature strip. But still. *g*

Danger, Den Whitton!

~There's a little black duck swimming in the water
A little black duck doing what he oughter
He took a bite from the lily pad
Then he gave a quack and he said
"I'm glad I'm a little black duck swimming in the water!
Quack, quck,quack!"~

And then the webbed feet and bill of death came out:D.

Is it a duck, or a llama-turned-duck?

I'd link the reference to this little joke, but I just remembered, I lost it. *frown*

Have the best

Just be glad it has feathers instead of fur; otherwise, when it flipped over (brace yourself!) "it would have a HAIRY quack up---"

Ba-da-BOOM!!!!

I love ducks, they're so freaking cool. And that is just TOO cute. Despite the savaging.
