Petrol

I filled my car today. $1.11c/litre. I bought a bit over 62 litres. It would have cost me $71.00 if the tankfull wasn't a payback from dad's company for the use of my car.

$71.00!

sheesh.

I'd probably appreciate that more if I knew what the exchange was like between dollars Australian and US.

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2004-11-24 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't mind so much if I was paid in US$ instead of AU$.

AU$71.00=US$55.79, or AU$1=US$0.78

Australian Dollar = USD$0.78

Ha !

Haha !

I got just over 30 litres yesterday, and it cost £26 - that's $62 or so, in AUD. Yup, equivalent to $2/litre. You've got it lucky over there, trust me :-)

(and yes, we have spent £40 on filling up a couple of times - just over $100 ... ow)

I know how bad it is Over There. When I was last in the UK in the mid90s I discovered things worth $1 here were worth £1 there.

And that was when $1=35p

Let see, that's 16.12 US gallons.

At the rates here... 1.85/gallon $29 US, which is $37 AUS.

I put some in my car yesterday, about 17 gallons for just under $30 US (I had a coupon though which lowered the price a few cents per gallon).

Wow, you guys pay a lot for gas, looks like near $3.50/ gallon

And I thought I was getting reamed at the gas pump here at 73.9¢/liter Canadian. I can't even imagine how much it would cost me to fill up my 4x4 down in Australia, it's expensive enough here as it is.

Yeah, the petrol sucks.

Tell me, is your icon a statement?

Mr Cranky? I meant the brief appearence of the TISM "Everybody else" bunny.

Out on the Lasseter Highway (the one that heads to Uluru) I stopped at a place that was selling Unleaded for $1.27/litre. Not a problem for me (my bike at the time only had a 12 litre tank), but the poor sod before me had probably had to fill his 4WD: 80 litres...

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2004-11-24 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
On my trip to Darwin in Feb I filled up at Renner Springs. $1.25/l I'd hate to think what it is now.

the petrol for the hoonmobile costs $1.17 a litre.. and to make things even better, the petrol companies announced that they're stopping the making of leaded petrol even sooner. Sooo I now have a car that runs on a petrol you wont be able to get much longer, i'll be forced to use the more expensive petrol AND add a additive to my engine.

[identity profile] elektron.livejournal.com 2004-11-26 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
They still make leaded gas? o.o

[identity profile] micheinnz.livejournal.com 2004-11-25 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Petrol's been $1.25/litre for 91 Octane ($1/30 for 96) here for a while now.
