Want to see what the aleins who make crop circles have been up to this year? Check out Top Of The Crops at www.circlmakers.org.

I've just watched a "documentary" on the ABC about these crop circles. All the interviewees talked about forces in the Earth, lines of energy, vortexes, plasma 4th dimentional energy constructs intersecting the 3 dimentional world... These people have a lot of money tied up in this gravy train.

Circlemakers.org says it's some blokes with a lot of planning and some boards.

Hmmm... Who to believe? What would Occam say?

Occam would say "Thetans".

Ah dammit. I *knew* it was them!

Occam would recommend you use a Norelco---

Personally I don't care WHO makes 'em, I still think they're purdy ;>

While Occam would say it's the guys with the boards, I'm prone to listen to the interviewees. Their babble is more interesting. ;)

Did the "documentary" interview any of the board people?

[identity profile] ngarewyrd.livejournal.com 2004-09-22 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
they made a point NOT to interview any of the board people.

in fact, one of the babblers said that he would have nothing to do with the 'fake' circle makers, so much so, that he wouldn't even appear in the same documentary as one of them.

which lead into a long peice about 'structural integraty of Documentaries'

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2004-09-22 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Which led to an unbalanced documentary. (I almost added "full of unbalanced people" but that would be unfair.)

so far all the "evidence" the Magic Circlemakers present is stories of what made the circles. They talk about frequencies and magnetic ripples and instruments failing, but they never produce the evidence.

The blokes with boards, on the other hand, make circles on demand.

have you ever seen the ones the guys with the bordes make??

they suck ass.

that, in my mind rules them out.

If you can make a giant Elvis head out of crops my guess is that you're not part of a primitice culture;). There was an English group that confessed to making some, are those the "board" guys?" My impression is it isn't truly a real crop circle unles it occurs naturally without human input. But then it just looks like a pile.

Occam's Razor would say it's some people with too much time on their hands. :)

What is the story of Occam's Razor anyway?

I don't know if this exactly answers your question but check this (http://www.annals.org/cgi/content/full/136/8/634-a) out.

Thanks! That's really helpful. Check out my reply to Dewhitton's comment below.

Put simply, if there are two explanations for an event the simplest explanation is usually the right one.

Check out Mortonfox's link. It has some historical info.

Ah, thanks. I was wondering if there was a big long fable about a man called Someone Occam discovering that he'd lost his razor, then going through ever more complicated reasons for where it had gotten to before discovering it was in his hand all along...but now I know. *nods* That's what I always thought was the origin of the term, but the truth, fittingly, is much simpler.
