Wayne Gretzky is one of the most famous professional hockey players, and was an icon for many a child growing up. He's also Canadian. He's since moved on and does a lot of charity work now.

Wayne Gretzky was (is) a hockey player. Being as I dont follow hockey, I assume that he was famous for keeping all of his teeth :)

It is awfully North American-centric, so you really shouldn't know who Wayne Gretzky is, unless you followed ice hockey. But, he is the greatest man to ever play the sport (http://www.legendsofhockey.net:8080/LegendsOfHockey/jsp/LegendsMember.jsp?mem=p199901&type=Player&page=statsawards&list=ByName#photo). He holds every scoring record in the National Hockey League, most of which won't be broken in the forseeable future.

Not that you should care. It's not rugby, after all.

Feh. He never played for the Wallabies or All Blacks. That makes him a minor celebrity (along with O J Simpson, who also apparently played a sport when he wasn't in Police Squad.)
