Vespadelus vultunus

Tonight's question: What 'M' name would you give to 4 grams of peeved bat?

Madeline

[identity profile] mactavish.livejournal.com 2004-07-07 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
That's my middle name, and thus perfect. ;)

[identity profile] makovette.livejournal.com 2004-07-07 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Assume she's a she, Maggie (Thatcher) of course :-D If a boy, Marvin (Martian) me thinks.

How's the critter's condition?

You can't really see the size in that photo. M's ears are 5mm long, and her fore-arm (the long wing-bone you can see in the photo)is 30mm.

Peeved? How about Myrtle, as in "moaning Myrtle" in the Harry Potter books :)

[identity profile] makovette.livejournal.com 2004-07-07 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Ooo, I rather like that one, well done :)

Myrtle is also a nice tree from Tasmania. I dunno about that. Although the magic connections suggests Morgan would be appropriate.

Wasn't Morgana the witch of Arthurian ledgend? Could be a nice fit...

Blessed be the pedant's of the world, for without them, we'd all end up clueless gits :-)

Great info Ace, Thank you :)

Of course if he were really seriously peeved, you could always call him Mad Max :)

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2004-07-07 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Not Mavis?

Can we vote?

[identity profile] trickenzie.livejournal.com 2004-07-07 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
I would choose Mad Max for a guy bat and Morgana (of Morgana le Faye fame) for a girl bat.

They are both verycool names. I'm now almost too ashamed to mention the one that I had thought of, which was "Mother-in-law".

[identity profile] weyrdbird.livejournal.com 2004-07-07 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Murgatroyd?:)

There was a villan in a melodrama I saw once named Munroe Murgatroyd.

But Myrtle is a cool name too.

Murgatroid!

I saw a name at work the other day - "Melvis" I guess his parents couldn't decide between Elvis and Melvin.

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2004-07-07 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Story is to come after I euthanase the bat she was with.

Melina. Since the only one I knew was, erm, rather peeved all the time. Or Marlon, who was surly.

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2004-07-07 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Marlon would be good for a male. But she's not.

I can't believe nobody's suggested Malfoy yet.

We had a bat as a neighbor in our hotel on our vacation. I have pictures.

Hah! Good thing I'd scrolled to the bottom of the page before suggesting the same thing, O Sister Disney Fan...

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2004-07-07 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd thought of this, but the bat isn't totally evil and is unlikely to turn into the coolest animated dragon ever.

[identity profile] zibblsnrt.livejournal.com 2004-07-07 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
The last name McCuisinart is required, provided the bat's pointy enough.

Maris (on Frasier, Niles' unseen and unpleasant wife, who also didn't weigh very much).
