This is my last batch of Road Trip photos, I promise.



Miles and miles of Bugger all, with a mirage, near Barkley Homestead roadhouse NT

Blue Heeler Hotel, QLD. Waltzing Matilda was performed publicly here for the first time in the late 1800s


Walkabout Creek Hotel, as featured in the first Crocodile Dundee movie. It is supposed to be in the tropical north but the next photo shows the area this pub is in.

The old hangar, now part of the Qantas museum at Longreach Airport.


A decommissioned 747, Qantas museum. I need to revisit this place.


And finally, we crossed from the Tropics back into the Temperate zone at Longreach. This marker is at the old post office.

It's 40 degrees (farenheit? I think) here and raining, and those pictures made me break out in a heat-induced sweat. :P Damn... and no shade for everandeverandever...

Batty, your photo travelog has been fascinating to Wabbit and me, and it's provided us with much entertainment and humor. I would seriously suggest that you put it all together in printed form and submit it to Aussie travel publications, or at least the local newspapers. You told me that most Aussies dream of but never get to see the Outback; your tongue-in-cheek humor might be just the hook to publish your diary. Not to mention the fact that your photo skills are very, very good. I should know!

I really enjoyed seeing the real Walkabout Creek Hotel. Having seen the Crocodile Dundee movie, it was fun to see it in perspective. Sort of like when I saw the "Bagdad Cafe" restaurant (which isn't really in Bagdad, California, but nearby in Death Valley) from the movie of the same name. And I can't help but look at the "bugger all" highway shots and expect to see a lavendar bus and three female impersonators saying "It just keeps going on and on, doesn't it?"
