Road Trip!

Dad needs a second driver for a business trip. I've never been to Darwin so I volunteered.

Sorry [livejournal.com profile] boodie. I still owe you a Road Trip.

Why not fly? Well, due to the crap airfare deals you get here it would cost $700 Sydney to Darwin return, + car hire, + driving to Sydney Airport and parking in the long term car park. It's cheaper to drive. I have the time. It's not like I have a job or anything.

Trip plan. Approx. distance 3800km each way.

I'll be able to colour in a bit more of the Where I Have Been map.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but seems to me my Mum (the geologist) told me that Coober Pedy literally translates to "Man in a hole" ?

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2004-01-09 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
correct! The local Aborigines called it that when they saw the opal miners.

All Victoria is coloured. I've seen more of that state than my own!

[identity profile] dewhitton.livejournal.com 2004-01-09 01:04 am (UTC)(link)

Drive me Batty, drive! :-D

You've been asking for a Real roady trip, well this one certainly qualifies in my book! Scott and I did your 2/3 of the US loop this year, your trip stacks up quite nicely against it for certain.

Be sure to take lots of pictures of your travels, it'll be very fun to see them.

CYa!

How long is it going to take? O.o

Awesome trip!

Wow. What a great sounding trip! I used to criss-cross the US a lot and loved long trips. I took a road tour from Alice Springs to Uluru a few years ago. I LOVE the desert. Have fun! Be safe!
