Did I say 38C? I meant 41C.

I got Bill Bryson's "A Short History Of Nearly Everything" and 1/2kg of crystallized ginger lumps.

We're about to have lunch which will consist of prawns, oysters smoked salmon and balmain bugs (slipper lobsters), and cold pork, ham and chicken for the non-seafood eaters.

Oh, and salad.

Ooooooo WONDERFUL book!! I wish my Mum would give me something cool like that (I just saw Mr Bryson talking about his book on part of a televised book lecture series on TVO here in Ontario called "Imprint" two days ago... he's wonderfully witty!!)

What a cute nickname! In the southern United States they call crayfish (fresh-water cousins of salt-water lobster) "crawdads." There was a funny episode of "The Beverly Hillbillies" in which Granny, pining for the Ozard Mountains she called home. She realized that there were crawdads in the streams and ponds in Griffith Park, so she went there and commenced to set up a trap and smoker. When the cops saw the smoke, they stopped and questioned her. When she said she was going to "smoke some crawdad" they figured it was slang for marijuana and arrested her.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to the Land Down Under.
