The previous comment was brought to you by the bloke who handed me a young black bird in a box. "I think it's still alive," he said, and gave the box a vigorous shake. "Yep! I can hear it flapping.."

I ended up with a blackbird chick in a condition that could be called "not terribly alive." I had to make it totally not alive..
