Friday Five

I don't usually do these, but this one kicked the bloke gene.

1. What vehicle do you drive?

1998 Toyota Camry "Vienta"

2. How long have you had it?

I bought it used in 2000. It only had 28,000km on the clock. When I started looking around for another car I asked my mechanic "What's a good car?"

He said immediately "Toyota Camry. They're reliable, easy to work on, and the parts are cheap."

I made up a wish-list of what sort of Camry I wanted: V6, Manual (preferred, would take an automatic) White (preferred. any other colour is too hot out here) A/C, power steering (preferred). Next day I went to the local Toyota dealer and gave him my wish list. He thought for a moment and said "Yeah, we have one over there *points into the used car lot*"

So I bought it. White, V6, 5speed manual Toyota Camry "Vienta" with A/C and power steering.

3. What is the coolest feature on your vehicle?

3 litre V6 motor with 5 speed manual gearbox.

4. What is the most annoying thing about your vehicle?

The CD player doesn't always recognize there's a cd in the mag.

5. If money were no object, what vehicle would you be driving right now?

If money was no object I'd have 2 cars:

Bloke Gene Den wants a 7 litre V8 Holden Monaro (Pontiac GTO to the United Statians)

or

Conservationist Den wants a Toyota Prius Hybrid.

*ponders morphing the two vehicles into the one..*

Why not have a Prius Hybrid with the Holden 7-litre (which we both know is a Chevy motor anyway) in 'er? 'cause I have to suggest things like that... ;)

Cos then you'd have a poor sports car. I want a Monaro. 8)

NO! NO! I want a Prius!

Nah, a poor sports car would be the Prius motor in the Holden. ;)

Maybe you're right; who am I to argue against having multiple cars?

Good grief at the wish car o.o, that's a lot of engine o.o

Mines a 1995 Pontiac Grand AM GT (http://www.furtropolis.com/~arcturax/housepics/Images/6.jpg) 3.1 litre, though it's a 4 speed automatic.

For my next car, I've been looking at Subaru's line... I really want a nice manual as I miss driving a stick. Even five years since I last drove a stick, I continually find myself wanting to shift.

Ah yeah, here's the car I've been looking at: Subaru Impreza (http://www.subaru.com/servlet/showroom?model=IMPREZA&trim=WRX_SEDAN&command=overview).

Pretty amazing, they can get about 80 more horsepower than my 3.1 V6 and 0-60 MPH in 5.4 seconds out of a 2.0 litre 4 banger.

Well, the Monaro actually has a little more engine in it than the GTO does -- mainly because of emissions ;)

Mmmmonaro!

I drive a '91 Camry stick shift that belonged to my mother; when she got a new one she passed her old one to me, much appreciated. "Reliable" doesn't even begin to cover it. Mind you, there are times in traffic when I wish she preferred automatics, but still...
