Steve Irwin has an engine named after him

"The Ghan" is a trans-continental train that runs from Sydney to Darwin. It was named after the Afghan camel trains that used to ferry supplies from Port Augusta to Darwin, through the centre of the continent.

Huh. I figured you didn't like him because he did stuff that no sane being (espically one who works around wild animals) should be doing, and you know that better than most of us!

I dunno, anytime in the past that you've posted about him, I've gotten a negative vibe from what you were saying. My mistake :)

The way he handles some animals annoys me, but he's the biggest boost to conservation this country has ever seen. Did you know almost all the money he makes goes back into his zoo? Steve and Terri live in a 3 bedroom double brick house.

Wow, that's really cool. I never really thought about it before.

The only real trivia about them I know is that Terri is from the same town lathi is (Eugene, Oregon). And I only know that for that reason. :)

I wish I could find that article about him where it mentions (almost off-handedly) about how many millions of acres they've purchased for land conservation. I also realized in watching "Croc Diaries" that the Steve Irwin we see on the show is a facade. He's so passionate about the animals that I don't think he'd be a fun boss to work for (though my son's goal is still to work with Steve :)

I've no idea. It could be advertising but he really doesn't need it, or it could have been named in a competition. Sometimes they let school kids name these things.
