Scientists will stick a camera-headed fibre-optic cable into his cloaca to see how his breathing apparatus works.

Shades of the Crocodile Hunter. "I'll just jamb my thumb up his arse. Crikey, that really pissed 'im off!"

I have seen politicians that can talk that way. ];-)

"and what did you do at work today hon"

"oh, nothing much, just shoved a fibre optic camera up some turtles clacker"

'You get all the fun jobs hon!!"

Dammit. Australia's mother nature really needs to share the crackpipe.

It seems that to come up with odder life than the typical critters down there you have to go down the Marianas Trench or something..

Weeeird. But I'm confused. The last part of the article says they're listed as endangered and the females can get up to five kg. You can't have done that if they only *just* found a live male.

Although, on reflection, they could have done that from the fossil record. But it still sounds odd to me, declaring something endangered when you've just found a previously-thought-to-be-extinct species member. To me, endangered means that it's still got a fighting chance. :/

Hey many Australians talk out their arses, this turtle has just taken it one further.

Still, it wouldn't want to fart...

I heard stories of a creature which gave birth though its mouth. But since they were stories from the beginning of Australia's habitation, I never believed them.
Until this story...

Joking aside, that's gotta be one of the weirdest things
I've ever heard to come out of evolution.

Weird!

That's awesome, but the USA beat you to it by electing a president who eats, drink, breaths and speaks out of his ass about three years ago.
