Pictures of Canberra bushfires

(edit)

On the news last night they showed the burnt out remains of the Mount Stromlo Observatory. All that is left is the blackedned dome the foundations of the service buildings.

Rain soaked effluvium thoughts away!

Those are scary pictures! The first one is amazing, I'd be amazed if that vehicle didn't explode less than a minute later! In Colorado when there's
high enough draught/fire warning no one is allowed
to start fires anywhere in the backpack areas of the
parks and they monitor the fire rings. That doesn't solve the problem of lighting as a culprit:P, alas.

Scary shit. Best wishes for the least possible awfulness, which I admit isn't saying much.

Oooh.

That fourth one down is kinda pretty.

To get an idea of the size of the fire: those trees are 100 feet high.

There's a beauty in destruction, but at what cost? Here's hoping for the best...
