Back to beer after a weekend of healthy, vegetarian living. I should do that more often. The vegetarianism, that is. I drink enough beer.

Chimay Peres Trappistes

Pours a cloudy dark brown, with a large head that fades quickly to a thick lace. The head is quite bubbly and fizzes noisily.

Chimay Peres Trappistes
Very cloudy. I put my LED torch behind the glass.

First sip: Malty and fruity, with some bready yeast lurking in the background. Almost no hops taste to speak of, but some taste of alcohol and phenols is noticeable in the after taste. Mouth feel is thick and creamy with a nice carbonation tingle on the tongue

My very first though on the first sip was, this is a yummy beer. It tastes nice, and it's warning, and the mouth feel is creamy, and the over all taste is nice and not bitter in any way. Even the noticeable alcohol taste is muted. This is an excellent cold winter evening's beer.
