Around The World In 80 Beers Episode 35: Oettinger Pils

Another Pilsner.

Oettinger Plsner

Slight fizz on opening, Pours a clear pale yellow with a medium head that fades really fast.

First sip: A bit of grainy malt, with a mild hops and an astringent finish. Mouth-feel is a little thin with a faint carbonation tingle on the tongue.

I don't know about this pilsner. I can't make up my miind. It's okay and tastes better when the glass warms a little. It would make an excellent hot day drink, but it's not one i would spend my money on. There are better beers, and yet there are much worse beers. On the other hand it is surprisingly cheap for an imported beer -- cheaper, and better than, a lot of locally produced largers. I would buy this over Tooheys New or Victoria Bitter any day.

Around The World In 80 Beers Episode 36: Bitburger Pils

Bitburger Pils

Pours a very pale gold with a small head that fades slowly.

First sip: A little thin, almost watery. Mild malt, with a mild hops and some slight citrus flavours in there. Faint carbonation tingle on the tongue.

Another pilsner I'm not too sure about. Yes, it's nice and drinkable, but it's a bit... average. If it were a really hot day (it isn't!) this would be very refreshing. It goes down rather well.

Last Peewee

The last peewee is in the big aviary. This is the big test -- it will be cold tonight. I hope she survives. I've just given her a huge feed to see her through the night. She has to go out now before the the bitter nights of winter start, or she will never go out, and she will be unreleasable.

I really hope tomorrow morning doesn't start with a sad body on the floor.
