Bearded Dragon
6 October 2004 15:40When I got the lizard last night he was pretty active, but this morning he was sluggish and unresponsive. I drove out to the zoovet as early as I could.
The vet picked him up, and we both groaned. Poking from the cut on his belly was a pink coil of intestines that had come out during the night. The cat had torn open the abdominal wall.
The vet weighed the little lizard (6 grams) and said "Poor little thing". The dragon opened his eyes, did a threat display at the vet, then just relaxed. We stared at the body for a moment, then the vet said "He just saved me the trouble of euthanasia."
