NT, QLD and NSW
23 January 2004 23:13I'd planned to head out to Kakadu and see the crocodiles, but instead I spent half the day watching the concreter build a speed hump. After lunch I headed a little way into the national park to a National Parks site called "Window On The Wetland." It was set up mainly for the kiddie but was interesting. The 'view the world as a mudskipper' display made me laugh. The "Window" is built on a high hill which looks out over the wetlands. I think I'd prefer the window to be a lot lower, like right in the wetlands.
If you want to see what Kakadu looks like, check out
ironbark's photos. I would have liked to go for a flight over the area.
That night a full Darwin Monsoon rolled in, complete with lightning display and rolling thunder. It was Very Impressive Indeed but had cleard by the time we left at Early O'Clock.
( Of green deserts, brown farmland, brolgas, bustards, pubs, cloud watching, roads, the magic of film making and a laxitive effect. )
